Addressing Concerns My Clients Have Had in the Collaborative Process

From my years of experience in assisting families through the divorce process I have encountered many of the fears and concerns people have about getting divorced.

One of the top concerns many people have is how will a judge or mediator decide what is right? Ultimately, what people are asking for when they ask that question is who has control of the outcome. We all want to have the freedom to control our own destinies in life and divorce. The first place that someone going through divorce has control is by selecting which process they and their spouse choose to utilize in obtaining their divorce.

Unfortunately, many clients feel that the attorneys they hire have their own agenda. This can lead to a feeling that the lawyer is only looking out for their own self-interests and can lead to distrust, primarily based on a lack of communication between the attorney and their client.

In the Collaborative Process, although the parties are obligated to have their own attorneys, the clients control the Process.  From the start, the process is driven by the clients and their goals and interests.

My upcoming series of blogs will outline three major cornerstones of the Collaborative Process, affordability, time, and the Process and Resolution, that put the clients firmly in control of the outcome and their future. Please check back every week for a new blog.
